Master blades and parallels in large HARDAC III cutters are identical to other blades in the same cutter. Cutters above 12" in diameter do not require positive diameter control because tooth contact length sensitivity decreases as cutter diameter increases. Replacement of one HARDAC III cutter by another causes no change in length or position of the tooth contact on the gears and pinions being cut. Therefore, exactly the same point width and/or point diameter is maintained on all cutters of the same specification. The other blades are trued to their respective master blade. A precision parallel is placed between each master slot bottom and blade. So no wedges are used in the master slots. Master slot bottoms are parallel to the cutter axis.
